Frequently Asked Questions

Last updated: June 24, 2023
By downloading and/or listening to or using my music you agree to the terms and conditions provided below & to respect my copyrights

1. Can I use your music in my video/game/project/etc?

If you want to use my music in your project contact me first in order to obtain license – either via email or via DM on Twitter. You can also use contact form available here.

You need to receive my written permission & even then you are also obligated to place a link to my youtube channel, twitter, bandcamp & my website somewhere in your project or in video description.
Example of proper credit:

Music by Violin Melody, follow her on:
– Bandcamp: https://violinmelody.bandcamp.com
– Youtube: https://youtube.com/OfficialViolinMelody
– Twitter: https://twitter.com/violinpony
– Website: https://violinmelody.net

If you don’t know what copyrights are and why it is important to respect them I recommend to give these articles a read:

2. Can I use your remixes?

My remixes can not be used in anything commercial because they might contain vocals and/or melodies that come from someone else. You will need permission from both me and the original content owner. Feel free to contact me (see contact methods in question #1).

3. Can we play your music or remixes on our radio/as part of my DJ set?

You are free to play my music on your radio station e.g. as a regular track but you are obligated to credit me properly and you should not use my music outside of it or as a music for your intro/outro/shows. My tracks have to not be modified (should not be cut, shortened, speeded up/slowed down, pitched up/down, EQed, bass boosted and so on) but you can use any standard radio technique to fade in/out and to normalise it’s volume with other songs. If you have questions about it or want to know more do not hesitate to contact me via email.

If you are a DJ and want to play my music as a part of your set feel free to do it but only as long as it’s part of bigger set and as long as you credit me properly. You can also use any DJ technique you want to mix my music. This also applies to DJ shows being aired on radios.

If you are unsure or have concerns feel free to contact me (see answer to question #1 and methods of contact provided there) – I will happily clear all your worries and answer to all your questions.

4. Can I redistribute your music (e.g. in archive project)?

I do not allow my music to be stored in publicly available archives or any other publicly available place – only official distribution is allowed. While you are free to build your own library of music, offline or in your LAN network like you do with other media for your & your family’s home cinema & entertainment needs, redistributing my music publicly without my written permission is strongly prohibited and may result with a DMCA or lawsuit.

You may ask why? The answer is simple – it hurts my downloads & potential donations, therefore has negative impact on me and my art. You may argue that it brings me views and “exposure” but from my own experience it does not do that plus exposure does not bring food on the table, so if you want to hear more music from me in future and do not want to kill my art, do not redistribute my music without my consent.

Every time an independent artist’s music is being pirated and redistributed illegally it hurts them directly and makes their art suffer. Some of those who steal it do mental gymnastics to excuse themselves just to not feel bad. Some others have no respect to artists and their time & heart they put into their craft while feeling entitled to everything these artists create at the same time… and some even keep making profits out of someone else’s work. All of that is so wrong and end up making it worse to be an artist in current times. I encourage you to do a small research on this topic in your free time.

Please respect copyrights of independent creators.

5. I have found an archive/3rd party website/torrent with your music, is it safe to download your music from those places?

It is not safe to download my music from those places. In best case scenario you will get low quality rip-offs from youtube, in worst – you are risking infecting your computer with some worms, viruses, cryptominers or trojans.

I strongly recommend to stay away from any shady place and only download music from official distribution – so in this case my Bandcamp page. Not only it is safer and comfortable but you also get my music in best quality (flac included).

You can also listen to it directly on my youtube channel, here: https://www.youtube.com/OfficialViolinMelody and also stream it on Spotify.

6. Can I remix/mashup/sample/flip/edit your music?

You need to contact me first in order to obtain my written permission (and also STEMs). See answer to question #1 and methods of contact provided there. Your remix will also need to credit me properly following this format:
Violin Melody – Song Name (Your Name Remix)

Sampling my music without acquiring the license will be considered infringement of my copyrights. “Fair use” or your “creative expression needs” are not an excuse for stealing. I am not against the art of sampling but I am against stealing, especially if someone else is getting profits from my work. Please respect artists and their efforts that they put in their creations.

7. How can I support you and your music?

I am very happy that you like my music & you want to support it πŸ’œ

You can do so by:
Donating here
– Adding link to my youtube channel (https://youtube.com/OfficialViolinMelody) on your site or blog

8. Where can I see more artworks of your sona?

You can find more artworks on ObscureDragone’s DeviantArt and on derpibooru.

9. What is the deal with ponies? Are you a pegasister?

I enjoy them a lot and yes I am a pegasister (or what others call it “a brony”). It may sound cheesy but ponies helped me gain confidence and were the catalyst for self development and also brought me to music (!!!) so if you are reading it and enjoy my creations you can be sure it all started with silly cute ponies. Of course my inspiration does not come only from them, if you want to learn more about me, source of my inspiration or generally hang out with me, feel free to join ASoS’ discord server (you will have to find the invitation yourself – treat it like your homework ^.^) & follow me on twitter.
